CURRENT PROJECTS: The Promontory Point Habitat Enhancement Project is a 25-acre effort to
remove invasive vegetation and replant native plants and trees in order to
make a more varied and welcome habitat for our
wildlife. |

| The Native Plant Border at Magnuson Community Garden has been designed, planted and maintained in order to create a connection to the natural areas of Magnuson Park and to educate park visitors to the kinds of native plants that can be used in neighbors' yards to enhance their own personal outdoor space. |

| The Flyway is a half-acre site on Lake Washington at the far south end of the park. This year MESA received a King County Water Works grant to improve shoreline habitat for salmon restoration. This restoration is complete with a summer watering system. The Flyway provides a connection to the upland forests for birds from Lake Washington, provides cover and food for wildlife, and has plants that overhang the shoreline to provide shade and food for migrating salmon. Our goal is to provide an example to the public of how native plants can be attractive and protect6 our urban wildlife and salmon. Charles Anderson and Associates designed the Flyway along with a concept plan for development of the remaining shoreline and adjacent wet meadow. |
| The Native Plant Nursery provides MESA with nursery beds and irrigation for propagation as well as a holding area for the hundreds of native plants that are used each year in our habitat enhancement projects. |
